RULES
The league will play a round-robin tournament1. For the 1st year, all registered players will be in the league. For succeeding years, only 9 members will compose the league:
- The top 6 players of the year's league tournament, including the winner, will be part of next year's league.
- Another 3 slots will be available through the knock-out preliminaries.
Round-Robin Tournament
The match-ups will be determined using the Cyclic algorithm. If the number of registered participants is odd, a 'ghost player' will be added to make it even (i.e. player matched against the ghost player won't have a game). The matched up players should schedule the specific date, time and place of their game within the scheduled month.
The games will be played on a 19x19 board with no handicap, 6.5 komi and at 45 minutes main time and 5 byo-yomi periods of 30 seconds each. Players will nigiri at the start of every game.
The rankings will be based on the number of wins of the players. For players with the same number of wins, the SonneBorn-Berger method will be used.
Knock-out Tournament
The games will be played on a 19x19 board with no handicap, 6.5 komi and at 20 minutes main time and no byo-yomi. Players will nigiri at the start of every game.
